Job Title : Casual Play Worker – Holiday Club

Responsible to: Childcare and Daytime Support Manager

Salary: £8.03 – £8.54 per hour dependent on qualifications

Contract: Casual Worker Agreement

Hours of work: As and when required, school holidays Monday to Friday 9.45am till 4.15pm , occasional hours term time may be available Monday to Friday 3.00pm – 6.00pm

Organisational Context

Unique Kidz and Co is a registered charity (Charity No: 1131652) founded in 2009 by two mum’s who were unable to find suitable childcare for their disabled children.

A trusted specialist service for disabled children and young adults. A place to play, have fun, make friends and be unique.

Job Purpose

To meet the individual needs of children of various ages and abilities by planning and delivering activities in line with the play work principles .To undertake planning duties for the Holiday Club and After School Club. To attend regular planning meetings and to actively participate in creating a programme of activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

To provide a safe, stimulating play/youth environment for children and young people which provides for their recreational, social, emotional, and physical needs through the provision of a high quality service which meets quality targets and/or legal requirements, including Ofsted.

To promote the establishment of positive relationships between staff and children which allow children to play together cooperatively and increase their self confidence.

To work with children and young people in a non-directive manner and uphold the play work principles.

To administer first aid as appropriate and assist with the medical needs of the children and young people attending the setting.

To supervise children and young people at all times with the appropriate level of care required to meet their individual needs.

To be aware of the needs of each individual child and young person and to ensure that ‘All About Me’ forms have been read and any clarifications requested prior to working with children.

To assist with the personal care of children and young people who require support.

To assist in the completion of daily records for example day book, accident / incident book, fire drill, complaints, repairs, monitoring forms etc.

To take appropriate steps to safeguard the confidentiality of all service user information and records irrespective of origin. This may include child protection issues.

To ensure that all Unique Kidz & Co policies are adhered to at all times.

To assist with the safe storage of all equipment and to lift and move items of play equipment when required with aids and adaptations if required.

To play a role in the transporting of children and young people to Unique Kidz and Co/home or on trips. This may be as a driver or escort on our mini bus.

Other duties and project work as and when required within Unique Kidz & Co’s After School and Holiday Club and associated projects.

Person Specification



  • NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Childcare or Play work or equivalent and experience of working with children/young people in a professional setting.
  • Level 1 Safeguarding Children and young people


  • Full clean driving licence
  • To have a current First Aid certificate
