Learning Disability Support Worker (30 Hours Per Week)

Unique Kidz and Co are seeking a Qualified Support Worker to join our team at 4Ever Unique Daytime Support Service for young adults with disabilities aged 16 to 25. Candidates must be available to work in the school holidays and have an N.V.Q level 2/3 in Health and Social or equivalent.

Job Description

Job Title: Qualified Support Worker – 4 Ever Unique Day Support Service

Responsible to: Childcare and Daytime Support Manager

Salary: £ 8.03 – £8.54 per hour dependent on qualifications

Contract: 12month Maternity Cover.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday (shifts between hours 8.45 am –6.15 pm)

PURPOSE OF JOB

To meet the individual needs of young adults with disabilities .

Work as part of a team in the provision of high quality care and opportunities for disabled young adults ages 16 – 25. To take an active role as a member of the team in individuals’ personal development and personal care. Work with the young adults developing projects. You will work to enable independence and develop confidence and share your enthusiasm and skills in development and participation in themed projects and activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DUTIES

To provide a safe, stimulating environment for young adults which provides for their recreational, social, emotional, and physical needs through the provision of a high quality service.

To promote the establishment of positive relationships between staff and young adults which enable them to work cooperatively with others and increase their self-confidence.

To work with young people in a non-directive manner.

To administer first aid as appropriate and assist with the medical needs of the young adults attending the setting.

To work with the young adults at all times with the appropriate level of care required to meet their individual needs.

To be aware of the needs of each individual person and to ensure that ‘Getting to know me’ forms have been read and any clarifications requested prior to working with the young adult.

To assist with the personal care of the young adults who require support.

To assist in the completion of daily records for example day book, accident / incident book, fire drill, complaints, repairs, monitoring forms etc.

To take appropriate steps to safeguard the confidentiality of all service user information and records irrespective of origin.

To ensure that all 4Ever Unique policies are adhered to at all times.

To assist with the safe storage of all equipment and to lift and move items of equipment when required with aids and adaptations if required.

To play a role in the transporting of young adults to 4Ever Unique /home or on trips as required. This may be as a driver or escort on our mini bus.

To work collaboratively with young adults and other team members on projects.

Other duties and project work as and when required within 4Ever Unique.

We are seeking applicants who are also able to drive our Mini Bus, a full clean Driving Licence is essential. Applicants must be over the age of 21years to drive our bus. This is to enable the young adults to get out and about in the community and on trips.

Appointment is subject to Enhanced DBS check , suitable references and prof of eligibility to work in the U.K
